Overview
Producing a technical drawing of something that already exists normally means measuring it by hand and redrawing it in CAD. TechDraw AI collapses that into one step: photograph the thing and get a dimensioned drawing back.
The part that took longest was realising one output format isn't enough. A joiner, a tech pack and a machine shop each need the drawing to look different, so it runs six trade-specific rulebooks. You pick the work you do and the sheet comes out the way that trade expects it.
It came out of a real bottleneck. Workshops constantly need drawings of parts nobody ever documented, and the people who need them aren't CAD operators.
What we built
- Vision pipeline that recovers geometry from a photo, with scale set from one known dimension
- Six trade rulebooks, from furniture and fashion flats through to machine parts and sheet metal
- Automatic dimensioning with extension lines, centre marks, tolerances and title blocks
- Export to DXF and DWG, so a drawing goes straight into a workshop toolchain
Outcome
- Trusted by 156,000+ engineers and makers
- Output a joiner, a tech pack and a machine shop can each use without redrawing it
- Live at techdrawai.com
